Honour birthdays, milestones or moon cycles as the ancient Greeks did by adorning a cake with these delightful, slender beeswax candles. Each flame represents a year lived or cycle complete. Legend has it that round honey cakes adorned with beeswax candles were made to honour Artemis, the goddess of the moon at each lunar month.

Natural beeswax birthday candles will drip less, last longer and are “taste-safe” compared to standard paraffin wax birthday candles.

These are also a beautiful ‘time-keeper’ candle to mark the time you are dedicating to your meditation or mindfulness practice, holding space for you for the duration of their burn time.

Why Beeswax?

Beeswax candles are the gold standard of all waxes as they burn cleanly, brightly, and produce a delicate natural honey scent. This candle was made using a traditional technique of dipping a pair joined by a single wick into hot wax. Layer by layer the candles grow leaving each one with it’s own variations and character.

Burn with care

Burn your candle with care and attention. If you're lighting outside; hold your hands around the flame until the candles have had enough time to start drawing wax up through the wick. This will help them stay lit in a breeze.

A candle placed in a draft will flicker rapidly creating wax drips. The wax is "taste safe" and non-toxic so don't worry if some drips onto the cake.

Children are very drawn to candles, they won’t be able to keep their hands off, please supervise very carefully.

Flame Gazing Meditation

Begin a simple meditation ritual using the calming light of the flame to draw out your own inner sanctuary. As a contemplative practice, fire-gazing has appeared again and again across unconnected cultures and eras.

Step 1. Find a quiet space, somewhere free of drafts and distraction. Light your candle at eye level, an arm's length or so away, and dim the lights around you.

Step 2. Sit comfortably, spine soft but upright. Let your gaze rest gently on the flame, as though the eyes were listening. Breathe slowly. When your eyes tire or begin to water, that's your cue to close them, holding the flame's afterimage in your mind's eye for as long as it lingers.

Step 3. Return your mind to the flame, again and again, for five or ten minutes. Let thoughts pass without following them, stillness will grow the longer you sit with the flame.
